Marketing Specialist

Job Description
Position Title: Marketing Specialist
Reports to: General Manager
Wage Range: $15/hour
Position Objective
The Marketing Director leads efforts to promote the Farm Stop as a vibrant retail space and cafe in-store, online and in the community. This person demonstrates the relevant experience and vision to create and execute strong marketing plans that connect our business with the needs of our customers and farmers. We are looking for someone who can attract new customers, drive greater loyalty and sales, and continue to share our agricultural co-op’s brand, story and mission. We desire someone who articulates our uniqueness and reaches our customers in the right channels. In this important role, we need a leader who can switch between big picture strategic thinking and the attention to detail needed to effectively execute marketing plans. This person is expected to collaborate with the management and board to inspire and lead the marketing team.
Major Job Responsibilities and Related Duties
Marketing and Advertising Plans
Develop and execute strong plans that help attract new customers
Drive greater sales and loyalty
Effectively share the farm stop’s brand, mission and story to the local community and wider region
Measure the results of any targeted marketing content to understand how sales were influenced
Digital and Print
Create eye catching content for 5 plus social media postings per week on Facebook and Instagram
Engage timely with social media comments
Develop 1 newsletter per week in Mailchimp.
Maintain and increase newsletter contact list.
Create in-store signage for promotions and events
Highlight seasonal items and cafe offerings
Capture the products and essence of Farm Stop with quality photographs.
Story Telling
Promote our local farmers and community partnerships
Articulate our journey and achievements at the Farm Stop
Educate the community about the importance of supporting local producers
Events
Identify Farm Stop events that engage our community around local food
Build community partnerships with other organizations that benefit the greater agricultural community
Assist management with organizing these events
Internal Management Responsibilities
Attend monthly Marketing Team meetings with the General Manager and board committee.
Meet weekly with GM on marketing plans.
Skills Required
Proficient in office programs, Canva, and Mailchimp
Minimum 2 years previous marketing experience
Minimum 2 years of significant Social Media experience
Effective oral and written communication skills
Team and mission oriented
Prefer prior knowledge of local food, local food systems, and farming
